We are not at liberty to answer that question, but we are certain they mentioned “off market” and “pocket listing” in this article.
The multiple listing services (MLSs) list most, but not all, available properties. By contrast, a local, knowledgeable real estate professional is also aware of an inventory of homes that are not currently on the market – “pocket listings,” in industry parlance. Without consulting an agent, the consumer has no way to know about these options.
We are not selling consumables, airline tickets, ball bearings, or books. Real estate requires negotiation — sometimes below list price, sometimes over, and sometimes with off-market homes that are not yet priced.
Hmmm….if you’re a real estate agent, or CEO of a company like Pacific Union, that is very aware of PocketListings.net, you need to think long and hard about the future of information (buyer and seller) exchange in our industry, and consider the alternatives available to you and your agents/colleagues, and clients. Encourage your buyers and sellers to get in the market by giving them options for exchanging wants and needs, and educate them of the alternatives to selling and finding property in the “social” age of the internet.
Just a thought, because the system is a changin’.
In case you don’t click on that, or can’t read it, that’s five buyers looking for property, and five sellers that are not listing their home on MLS…in two days! And these are only the agents that have chosen to email blast the San Francisco Association of Realtors.
So, is there a need for agents to share both their off market listings (pocket listings) and their buyer needs all in one place? Is there a service that allows agents to do exactly that, FOR FREE? Is there a service that puts the Match.com in real estate? The answer to all of those questions is yes. It’s PocketListings.net, and one of these days, maybe before I die, agents will begin to take advantage of the service we have created and get on the path to more happy clients.

Remember this post we recently wrote, “Five Million Buyers With Nowhere To Go“? We weren’t kidding when we said the buyers are out there and they can’t find what they need. Have a look at the Latest Activity on PocketListings.net….buyer need, buyer need, buyer need, buyer need.
Putting buyers and sellers together through their real estate agent…that’s what we’re here to do. If you’re still not sure about how our site can work for you and the real estate market, have a look at our tutorial to get you started.
Our goal at PocketListings.net is to help you close more deals. It’s that simple. Think about this:
The National Association of Realtors released their Existing Home Sales Report not too long ago, and despite a drop in existing home sales from the month prior, there were still roughly 4.91 million transactions (not counting commercial and industrial transaction) for the year. Let’s just call it an even five million to make things easy. That’s pretty darn cool, right?
But the focus is always on units sold or sellers. Another way to say it is, there were roughly five million sellers of residential property last year. But everyone forgets about the five million buyers it took to make those transactions happen! Right? A transaction is never going to happen without a buyer. So why, until now, has ALL of the focus been on a place for sellers to list their properties for sale, and nowhere for the buyer to be heard? The importance of the buyer has been overlooked, for as many sellers as are out there, there is likely an equal or greater number of buyers.
Lawrence Yun, NAR’s Chief Economist, says it right here, “[T]he volume of successful buyers is higher than a year ago and is remaining fairly stable – this speaks to an unfulfilled demand.” Translation, buyers are out there, and they’re looking for property!
We encourage you to think outside of our industry box, look at the technology that is available to you, and use it to your advantage. Post ALL of the buyers you have looking for property on PocketListings.net, share their wishes on your social networks, and let your fence-sitting sellers know about the buyers out there that might like to view their property. Buyers are an extremely important piece of the transaction puzzle. Let’s give them the attention and exposure they deserve, and get more property sold.
A sale is a sale is a sale, and we’re here to help you get more.
Are you somebody that lives in Los Angeles and has a VERY private, fabulous, five bedroom luxury home with a pool and proximity to the city you’d like to sell, but prefer to do it a bit more quietly? Are you a real estate agent in the Los Angeles area that has a seller with a home that fits that description and might consider moving for the right price and little hassle? If so, your buyer is out there, and their agent has posted their wishes on our site:
My buyers are looking for a VERY private 5+ bedroom home. Guest house/apt a plus. Pool a must, privacy a must, easy access to city open to greater LA under $4.5 mil. Thanks
Call us crazy, but wouldn’t every agent in the greater Los Angeles area want to be on either end of a $4,500,000 transaction?
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again…we are in the business of getting you more business.
